Granular
Earth pigment painting series, 2024–2025
Granular is part of an ongoing exploration of the intimate dialogue between land and memory. The pigments used in this work are collected directly from the ground during hikes across diverse landscapes around the world. Each fragment of soil carries its own history, geological time compressed into color.
By grinding, mixing, and applying these earth pigments onto canvas, MDF, or paper, the work becomes both an image and a physical trace of place. It reflects the idea that landscape is not only seen but also held, touched, and carried. Granular embodies a quiet record of encounters with the terrain, a map of movement, presence, and the subtle traces left by our interactions with the earth.
